Bring your teaching skills beyond the traditional classroom. The Pathways Day Program is looking for a creative and engaging Life Skills Educator to develop and lead hands-on learning experiences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

This is an opportunity to combine education with meaningful, person-centered work while helping adults build skills, explore their interests, participate in their community, and grow their independence. 

About Pathways
The Pathways Day Program provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) a supportive, engaging environment to learn, connect, and pursue meaningful activities.

As a Life Skills Educator, you'll manage a dedicated learning area and lead rotating small groups throughout the day. You'll have the flexibility to create activities and adapt your approach based on participants' individual abilities, interests, communication styles, and goals.

What You'll Do 
  • Develop and lead engaging, skill-building lessons and activities for adults with I/DD.
  • Provide instruction to rotating small groups throughout the day.
  • Adapt activities, materials, and teaching methods for different learning, communication, cognitive, and physical abilities.
  • Incorporate participants' individual service/support plans and goals into daily programming.
  • Monitor and document participant progress, engagement, and support needs.
  • Create a safe, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Collaborate with direct support staff to provide consistent, person-centered programming.
  • Support participants with personal care and mobility needs as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Human Services, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
  • Experience in education, special education, adapted instruction, or another instructional setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to develop and lead structured lessons and activities for small groups.
  • Ability to adapt instruction for varying cognitive, physical, communication, and learning needs.
  • A patient, creative, flexible, and dependable approach.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. Employees must be able to participate in activities with program participants, including standing, bending, lifting materials, and providing assistance with mobility or personal care needs when required.
