Community Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Instructor for Adult Life Skills to develop and deliver hands-on instruction for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
This position offers experienced educators the opportunity to apply their teaching and curriculum development skills in a creative, nontraditional setting. With an emphasis on practical life and vocational skills, the instructor will design meaningful learning experiences that encourage skill development and greater independence.

This is an active, hands-on instructional position requiring the ability to stand, move throughout the learning environment, participate in activities, and assist with instructional materials throughout the day.

What You'll Do
- Develop curriculum and deliver direct instruction focused on practical life skills, vocational skills, and independence.
- Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and hands-on learning activities.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different abilities, communication styles, and skill levels.
- Introduce creative approaches that encourage participation and skill development.
- Transport participants to educational activities and other destinations as needed.
- Maintain an organized, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; degree in education strongly preferred.
- Formal teaching experience is required.
- Experience developing curriculum and lesson plans.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to different learning needs.
- Creativity, initiative, and confidence working independently.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for exploring new teaching approaches.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record.
